CHANGES

Hello....

Goodbye....

We have moved from our old work shop in an amazing old building that we loved, to the historical and sublimely pretty Monticello Arcade on 208 e. Plume Street in downtown Norfolk Virginia.  We are so excited to be opening up a store front in this new location!  Renovations are sweatily coming to an end, and we look forward to opening the shop soon.  Keep posted for more info.

xoxo

CALDER

I was thinking back on my history with art and jewelry, my likes, dislikes and how they have changed, evolved, grown up and yet have stayed the same.  While thinking back on my path to jewelry I was remembering my youth time favorites.  Realizing my own creative narrative is a path I can detect now. Looking back as though the wind has just brushed away the leaves on an autumn's day stroll to reveal a worn path where I had just thought I had meandered threw the trees.  Calder was one of my favorites in my teens, among Klimt, Mucha, Schiele, Klee, and Sonia Delaunay.  I can see how this hopeful painter (me at 15) could be swayed to textiles and metals once given the knowledge and opportunity. I now remember making wantabe Calder copper wire sculptures and jewelry with gratitude.

LIVING ROOM RENOVATION

BEFORE/DURING

AFTER

Well it took us forever but we finished our living room remodel!  New windows and light switches that work!  New fixtures, drywall, paint, tile, and in wall wiring for the surround sound!      Now I just need to save up for a new couch...

RECOVERY

Recovering from my appendectomy, stuck inside with my sketchbook feeling antsy....  Found this image of Henri Matisse at Hotel Regina in Nice in 1950, stuck in bed drawing too.

WORLD GOLD COUNCIL

The World Gold Council showcases 10 great designers and goldsmiths from around the globe every year.  I am so honored and proud to be among the ten this year!

The WGC said “These are the talented artists and artisans, some avant-garde, some classical, who are pushing the boundaries, challenging conventions, exploring the beauty and unique innate qualities of the noble metal, and bringing a new, dynamic dimension to the art of gold,”.

RENO-FIND

Look at these old screws I uncovered while renovating my living room, so cool. They have no indentations on top for a screwdriver, you have to turn them with your fingers on the lined sides to get a grip.
